British ships. European reach. Green by design.

Connecting the Humber to Europe

KMM Ferries is building Britain’s greenest short-sea freight service — a direct RoRo link from Hull and Zeebrugge, crewed and flagged British, powered by e-methanol.

£152 of social benefit per lorry removed (DfT methodology).

4 sailings/week each way from 2026.

Near-zero emission newbuilds from 2030.

BRITISH

British flag, British officers and crew, 160 years of maritime heritage behind the venture, Humber jobs and skills.

EUROPEAN REACH

Zeebrugge as the gateway: road, rail and barge connections into Benelux, Germany and beyond via North Sea Port. The service strengthens UK–EU trade; it does not retreat from it. British ships, European connections.

GREEN BY DESIGN

E-methanol propulsion, onboard carbon capture (Seabound), shore power, battery hybrid. Modal shift: every trailer moved by sea removes a lorry journey from congested roads — valued at £152 per journey by the UK Department for Transport’s own methodology.

Why KMM Ferries?

KMM Ferries is designed to serve freight customers who need efficiency, flexibility, and dependable sailings. By connecting the Hull ports with Zeebrugge, we help reduce road miles, support modal shift, and provide a practical alternative to congested southern routes.

Our service is built for unaccompanied trailers, swap bodies, containers, wheeled cargo, and project freight. The long-term plan includes purpose-built newbuild vessels powered primarily by e-methanol, with LNG dual-fuel readiness for added flexibility.

KMM is building new vessels that will maximise the constraints of each port while being environmentally friendly with near-zero emissions. Ships will in addition be strengthened suitable for military equipment and also fly the British Flag.

What We Offer

The Port of Hull and the Port of Zeebrugge

KMM is focussed on the short-sea freight only service rather than a RoRo and Passenger service

Designed for northern and midlands UK cargo flows.

Future passenger capability under review.

Sustainability at Heart

Our fleet strategy is centred on lower-emission operations, with shore power readiness, energy-efficient hull design, waste heat recovery, and AI-supported route optimisation. This creates a strong environmental and commercial proposition for customers and partners, and provides a practical alternative to congested southern routes.

Any discounts obtained such as port fees due to the “green” factor of our service will be passed on to our customers.
